The Story

Zara is chosen last for the family quiz team.

Her cousins are faster, louder and completely certain that they know every answer. Zara is not so sure—until the questions begin and something Amo Samir once told her suddenly matters.

The Last Pick is an encouraging developing-reader story about confidence, listening and discovering that everyone has something valuable to contribute. Accessible chapters, family humour and a satisfying final challenge make it ideal for children growing into independent readers.

Perfect for ages 6–9 and for readers who have ever felt overlooked, underestimated or left until last.
